Ready for an inside look at the world’s most popular non-invasive body sculpting technologies available here at Skin Care Institute? We asked Jan Hodges, skin care consultant and client services manager at Skin Care Institute, to dish on the top CoolSculpting® myths, expert treatment tricks and so much more.
Q: In your experience, what are the most common misconceptions people have about CoolSculpting® and Emsculpt®, or non-invasive body contouring in general? Are there certain assumptions people make that you’d like to correct? (For example, that body contouring is a one-and-done treatment, when it typically takes a series of treatments to reach your goal.)
The most common misconception is that Coolsculpting and Emsculpt are solutions for weight loss. Good, healthy lifestyle choices, such as a healthy eating and regular exercise, is always first before doing body contouring treatments. Coolsculpting is great for someone who practices those things, and is within 20 pounds of their ideal weight, and has a problem area that is resistant to their diet and exercise. So, small areas of pinchable fat are treated with phenomenal results! Emsculpt is best for someone who has little to no fat to lose, but wants to strengthen and tone their core, buttocks, arms or calves!
Q: Why did Skin Care Institute add Emsculpt to the menu when you already had CoolSculpting?
It really is about strengthening (building muscle) versus fat reduction. Both serve their purposes, and some of our clients have done both! They might start with Coolsculpting on their abdomen to minimize the subcutaneous fat, for example, and then later come in to strengthen and tone their core with Emsculpt!
Q: Are there any treatment tricks for getting your best results with body contouring?
Skin Care Institute has been doing Coolsculpting since its introduction in 2010 (over 1,000 patients later!). We have been named by Coolsculpting as being the #1 provider for the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas. Experience is very important and we will always let our clients know if they are a good candidate for the treatment at the time of the consultation. As far as tricks, there are none! If you are a good candidate for treatment and have realistic expectations, you will love your results, and all you have to do is come in and have the treatments done!
Q: What kind of training does Skin Care Institute do for body contouring? Who administers these treatments? Do they follow a strict protocol?
As with all of our treatments at Skin Care Institute, everyone is exceptionally trained, and we always follow strict protocols. Our practice is Coolsculpting-certified and each of our technicians have attended CoolSculpting University in California. We were the first in the region to have CoolSculpting, and we have all the latest applicators which gives us more flexibility in who we can treat and what body parts can be treated.
Q: What’s your favorite part about working at Skin Care Institute?
