Get Holiday Ready — Mentally and Physically Tulsa, OK

November 5, 2020 by Skin Care Institute

The season of gratitude is officially upon us, and we all know how healthy gratitude is! But if you’re feeling a little less gratitude than usual these days, don’t be too hard on yourself. 2020 has been an especially tough year, and besides, it’s probably not your fault. Neuroscience research is revealing that there may be something like a “gratitude gene” because some people are way more apt than others to feel gratitude. The good news is that you can strengthen your gratitude muscle with a few easy “exercises.”

Fake it till you make it.

This is a popular saying for building confidence, but it can also be a useful tool for making “gratitude” adjustments. Get it? Ask yourself, how do grateful people act? What do they do? And then do it. Opening doors for people, letting people go ahead of you in line, smiling at passers-by…all these simple acts of kindness help others feel good. But most importantly, they help you feel good about yourself and boost your gratitude muscle.

Start a gratitude list.

Last year, we talked about starting a gratitude journal, but this goal can be rather overwhelming for those of us who struggle to find time to make dinner. Why not try just jotting down the things you’re grateful for as they occur to you? If you save all your gratitude moments for a time when you can sit and write in a journal, it will never happen! Here’s how simple a gratitude list can be:
My pets
Tea breaks
Family
Smell of cookies baking
Slow cooker meals

What’s on your gratitude list?

Schedule YOU time.

You know how they say in the airplane safety demonstrations that you need to put your air mask on first before you can put air masks on others? The same is true in regular life. It’s nearly impossible to feel gratitude when you are out of air, physically and mentally depleted. Putting your air mask on first means taking care of yourself every day by getting enough sleep, eating right and scheduling special time for yourself. Here at Skin Care Institute, taking care of your needs is our favorite thing to do, and we are experts in self-care so you can look and feel amazing all season long!

It’s time for some YOU time! Seriously! You can start by calling 918.948.9639 or filling out our consultation request form today.
