At the risk of sounding silly, we truly believe that autumn and winter should be called skin rejuvenation seasons. As skin care experts, we see firsthand all the damage the sun can wreak on skin, including our own, and that’s just from walking to and from our cars every day. If our staff is seeing sun damage, we bet you’re seeing it, too. Unfortunately, the sun is inescapable, penetrating through glass and clouds. Even when you wear sunscreen, UV rays seem to seep in when you’re least expecting it.
Before you run into a cave and hide, here’s the good news: we are skin care experts here at Skin Care Institute, and so we know how to reverse sun damage and help your skin look its absolute best at every stage of life. That said, one of most effective and easiest skin treatments on our menu is IPL photofacial. If you’re looking to reverse sun damage and correct pigmentation issues like sunspots and freckles, you simply can’t beat the power and ease of IPL.
Do you need an IPL this season? Take our skin rejuvenation quiz to find out:
Q: Do you have skin that’s lighter to medium in tone?
On the Fitzpatrick scale, that refers to types 1-3. A photofacial is a non-invasive intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment designed to revitalize fairer skin tones. (If you have darker skin, we have other effective options, and we can tell you all about them during your consultation!)
Q: Do you wish your skin was more evenly toned?
Do you slather on concealer every morning to cover up redness and/or blotchy patches of broken capillaries? Do you have sunspots, age spots, brown spots, liver spots or freckles? What about dullness? IPL is the gold standard for correcting all these skin concerns!
Q: Do you like skin treatments you can do on your lunch hour?
IPL is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates new collagen and elastin growth deep within your skin. Unlike microneedling or deep chemical peels, however, IPL doesn’t break the surface of your skin, so there’s little to no downtime. Depending on your skin, you may experience some temporary redness, but this simply looks like you’re flushed or have gotten some sun. Also, if you are correcting dark spots of hyperpigmentation like sunspots or brown spots, they will initially darken before the pigmentation breaks up and comes to the surface before sloughing off. This process takes about a week. Generally speaking, though, these side effects don’t really count as downtime.
Q: Do you like to save money?
This month, we’re offering 20% off a package of three IPL photofacials, because you really need a series of treatments to see your best results.
We’re also offering 20% off a package of three Clear + Brilliant™ treatments, a fractional laser skin treatment that helps to brighten and correct uneven tone and texture without downtime.
