We have two burning questions for you:
1) Did you apply sunscreen this morning before leaving your house?
2) When was the last time you were screened for skin cancer?
We may sound a bit like your mom, but it’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month—prime time to talk about keeping your skin healthy and beautiful! We know you’ve been warned about the dangers of sun exposure a million times, so we’re going to focus on the surprising beauty benefits of sunscreen instead. Did you know that applying sunscreen on a daily basis has actually been shown to improve the appearance of your skin? You’re not just preventing sun damage by slathering on SPF. You could actually be enhancing your skin!
Your skin is our passion at Skin Care Institute, and we’re much more than just the first and leading medical spa in Oklahoma. To keep your skin healthy and vibrant, remember that you have more power than you realize. An astounding 95 percent of all skin cancers are curable when treated early. If you discover a suspicious lesion on your skin, such as a new mole or a mole that changes in shape or size, see a doctor immediately. The ABCDE Rule is an easy way to remember the warning signs of skin cancer: A for Asymmetry, B for Border (ragged or blurred edges), C for Color (uneven shades of brown, black, tan, red, white, blue), D for Diameter (change in size), and E for Evolving (new spot or mole that is changing in color, shape or size).
